My cousin and Maid of Honor, Beth Hendrix, will be hand writing all my invitations for our wedding. Isn’t she talented? Her calligraphy is outstanding…almost perfect in my opinion.

// Heirloom Silver//

No two ways about it: Silver is a Southern classic. And giving silver as an annual Christmas present is useful, she says, because “silver isn’t given much as a wedding present anymore.” - Southern Living Home

I must say, I agree with Southern Living Home; Silver is often forgotten about by brides when registering. It is often dismissed by friends and family when purchasing gifts for brides. Macy’s, for example, does not even carry sterling silver in store any longer. Brides can only register for silver online. How sad that such a traditional heirloom has been dumped from the shelves. I suppose better selling items with higher profit margins such as christmas ornaments, bath mats, and chia pets take high precedence in the retail world. Sigh

As a southern and “old-fashioned” bride, I will be sticking with tradition for now and registering for my sterling silver online. I will host dinner parties with my old faithful beauties for years and eventually pass them along to my daughter in hopes she will someday do the same.

Vintage airplane birthday…

From “boarding pass” invitations mailed out envelopes fashioned from old atlases, to clever “in-flight meal style” lunches and bags of blue cotton candy adorned with cloud shaped marshmallows…

Chrystal Guyette from Hostess with the Mostess did an amazing job chasing down a real airplane and securing it for her son’s vintage inspired airplane birthday party. I’ve never heard of a party in an actual airplane before. I am beyond impressed. The design and details of the party are truly over the top. The execution of the event looked impeccable from the pictures. Head on over to Hostess with the Mostess to check out more of the images for youreself. Congrats on a job well done, Chrystal!
